travelling with my camera equipment

travelling with your camera equipment.

There might be a day in the distant future where I could travel and be happy with bringing just my phone as my camera, but I feel like family road trips and vacations are in limited supply with my kids getting older so for now, I’m happy to bring my big camera while I can and capture everything my heart desires. Here are a few tips if you’re feeling overwhelmed about bringing your camera along with you for family roadtrips.
I choose to pack light. I bring one lens, my camera body, batteries, memory cards and that’s it. This allows me enough room to also store my wallet, phone and any other essentials in my camera bag. This also eliminates the question “Should I bring my camera?” My bag has everything I need in it, I just grab it and go.
There are a ton of options out there for camera bags and so many pretty, stylish and functional one’s to choose from. I prefer to bring my basic back-pack style camera bag so I can have my hands free if we’re out on any adventures. More often than not I will have a toddler, or dog in one hand and my camera in the other.
If you’re like my family, we always seem to be packed in the car like sardines. But I always keep my camera bag up in the front seat with me where it’s available all the time. One of my favourite places to photograph my kids is in the car. No joke!
